Hudson's Bar and Grill

Submitted by djwadmin on Sun, 27/05/2007 - 15:12.

We visited Hudsons just after it opened, and we were very pleased with our evening then, so we decided to try it again, hoping it would still be as enjoyable. We were not disappointed.

Starters were excellent. We had the buffalo mozzarella with vine tomatoes, and a goats cheese creation. Neither could be faulted.

We both had the prime fillet steak, and these were about as faultless as you can get. Cooked exactly as we requested, they melted in the mouth, and were well complemented by string fries, bearnaise, and a wonderful horseradish sauce, made in Hudson's kitchen.

Puddings were also a delight. I had the treacle tart, which thankfully bore no resemblance to school dinners. The lemon tart also got a rave reception.

A great evening. The wine was resonably priced, and the service was efficient, unhurried, and slightly exotic.

The cost, for two, with a bottle of wine and tip was a shade under ?100. We will be going back, and we won't be leaving it for so long this time.
